Well, I’m the exception, not the rule. I did my long run today outside. I’m proud to have 11 miles marked off, but not proud to share that I got LOST in my hometown haha. It was freezing and windy, just 7 degrees before windchill. And I decide today’s the day to go a new way.. To take some back country roads I’ve never driven down, let alone ran. Well, the plan was to run for two miles and turn around to pick up four. Well, the two ended perfectly at a stop sign, so I decided to run a mile one way and turn around to pick up another two. Well, on my way back I missed my turn because evidently I didn’t realize the road changed names and I’m an idiot lost in the moment. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if it weren’t SO COLD and I feared my iPhone would die. I luckily had brought my hubby’s spare windows phone because we all know an iPhone can’t withstand anything colder than 32 degrees.
Let me tell you, the three miles I was lost were the longest of my life haha. I’ve seen way too many movies, had way to many fears at the thought of possibly needing to ask for a phone lol… So, moral of the story, don’t be adventurous on your long run in freezing temps. Heck, loop around your street if need be haha.
Anyways, it’s done and I’m another run closer to my half next month. Disney Princess half will certainly be a better time than today was lol…
Side note, I’m PISSED that my HR monitor malfunctioned and didn’t record accurate readings for the last half of my run, ugh! My calories burned is off and my Garmin connect charts look way less badass… An online group I’m apart of suggested use of gel, so I’ll have to give that a shot. Regardless of what my watch told mfp, I’m going to eat all the food today because I earned it! 🙂
OMG. I can’t imagine running in temps like that…it’s been between 48-50 degrees today and I’ve been shivering nonstop.

I’m ready for summer again, haha. If I lived where it got that cold, there’s no way I could be a runner!

Wow, I can’t imagine running in that kind of cold! I think the coldest I’ve gone was right around 20. Running with all that snow looks gorgeous though, maybe I’ll give it a shot this year!

Oh no! Definitely something I would do, but scary (especially when it’s that cold!) I’m a big baby when it comes to running in the cold haha

:). I wore lots of layers, luckily! Phew… I was so happy to finally be in the right track, but of course that was all into the wind… Brrr

What a run xD But i am glad that you got home safely! I still can’t run outside because of the temp (-10 C degree is a good day! We even had some -25 days last week!) & the snow (ankle deep most of the time – after being shoveled!). Hope that I can run outside soon, look at the gorgeous sun!

Jeez! So cold. Today our high is negative, too. Why do we live where it hurts to breathe! Lol

I wouldn’t want to leave my house to run in that weather haha, I already find it cold enough at the gym when I first walk in! Really good blog, enjoy reading it !

Thank you so much! A week inside made me yearn for an outdoor run haha… I was inside today though. Our high is in the negatives brrrrrr.

Geez, coldest it’s been around here is 28 degrees. Reading this I feel like a wimp wearing a jacket while using the stationary bike in my room where it’s 58 degrees.

Lol we’re all different. What I wouldn’t do for 58 degrees lol.

I can’t imagine running in that cold of weather! Do you like the garmin vivoactive? I had a Fitbit surge, but didn’t love the feel or the lack of accuracy.

I can’t express how much I LOVE it. It’s so accurate paired with the HR monitor. I researched the surge, too. I found that the vivoactive is geared toward runners and is just all around badass. 🙂

Yes, technology malfunctions and route confusion totally mentally mess with the run. It suddenly becomes about everything but the running! I had to get past a lot of those frustrations when I was training for my first full.

So very true. I’m gun shy about new routes, but it’s probably because it’s the middle of winter.
